Helping people out of poverty has been a big problem and political leaders have been talking about raising minimum wage to help bring people out of poverty. If they raised the minimum wage it would actually not help people come out of poverty. When looking at poverty we see that many of the people in poverty actually do not work. Therefore if they raised the minimum wage it would not help the people in poverty because they are not employed. There have been many studies on this in the past and almost all of them have proven that raising minimum wage has not helped people come out of poverty. The 2012 Wilson review noted: after eight studies of poverty effect by an increase in minimum wage and it has shown that there was not an effect on poverty except for one study.
